Something (Not Nothing)
What can I say?
Everything and nothing
When I say it one way
you infer the other
When I say everything
you pass it over
If any two souls on this earth
were meant to be together
It was us
Not “is,” but “was”
Ever since the workings of soft destiny
Were interrupted by Goblins of fear
Shoemakers’ elves came in the night
And stole our love
Taking it to some dark dungeon of the imagination
Where it sits and rots, unnecessarily so
Since nature, in order to have a nature,
Must be allowed to blossom, and not be quelled
Those who quell
are not true
And those who are true
do not quell
Let free will flow
In the interstices of our circumstances
And I will be satisfied.
